The Concept
A unique selection of fine grower champagnes.
We focus on small producers who care for their soils – using sustainable regenerative farming – and have a long tradition of quality wine making. We have travelled the length and breadth of Champagne to get you the best independent grower champagnes that the region has to offer.
Champagne at its best
There is nothing quite like champagne. It’s special, effervescent, delicious – and has become synonymous around the world with celebrating. If you’re a champagne lover – or would like to become one – come share our journey.
At Stahel GmbH, we seek out small, family-owned, out-of-the-way wineries, where the history, passion and know-how is as interesting as the wine itself. We connect with grape growers whose dedication to quality and sustainable farming practices matches our own. The result? A carefully curated range of the highest quality, award-winning and rare champagnes.
Our philosophy is simple: Wine discoveries should be shared – especially unique finds that result from the utmost care of growers.
Simply champagne

How did you come up with the idea for Langrée & Stahel? In fact, the project was originally initiated by Claire, and I suppose it is due to her special connections to the Champagne and the southern regions of France. Since we have been very good friends for some years now, I was closely following her on this project until we realized we could probably take advantage of the way we complement each other. I was ready for a radical change in my career and found this opportunity very attractive. I jumped in!
You are a doctor, right? Officially, yes, however I am no longer in practice. Ten years ago and after eighteen years of clinical duty, I decided to concentrate on research and development.
Have you always liked Champagne? Oh yes! I love the taste of a good champagne and I especially enjoy the many sensations it procures.
Tell us more about these sensations. With pleasure. Champagne is the only wine that “talks”! As soon as I set it free from its bottle and pour it in a glass, it starts whispering its delicate and enchanting murmur. Not only does it sing, but it also expresses its happiness in fascinating dances of fine bubbles twirling up to the surface. The golden ring that forms at the edge of the glass is, to me, an invitation to celebrate. The nose and the palate are exceptional moments of magic discoveries. In fact, a good Champagne has this unique ability to make me forget about the past and stop planning the future. With a glass of good Champagne, I just enjoy the moment and I feel good.
Do you sometime drink a glass of champagne alone? Never. The ultimate pleasure is to share it with people I like, and to celebrate with close friends. To me, a Champagne has no other option than being a very good Champagne. At a celebration, you want the Champagne to emphasize the emotion that is reflected by the event.
So, what makes the selection at Langrée & Stahel better than others? Our selection is not necessarily better than others. But the selection of producers makes a difference. We focus on small producers with a long tradition of winemaking and undeniable savoir faire. For us, the commitment of these winemakers and the quality of their work are critical assets. In the end, what’s poured into your glass is the result of a long and passionate story.
